Greene County district court, week ending Nov. 10

In Greene County district court Matthew James Cummings, 36, of Jefferson was sentenced Nov. 6 to a term not to exceed five years in prison after he pleaded guilty to a charge of theft- second degree, amended from theft- first degree. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation to the judicial district Department of Correctional Services for three years. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and follow all treatment recommendations. He was fined $1,015 with a $153.75 surcharge and he must pay $19,723.17 victim restitution. The court found Cummings unable to pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees or court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Angela L. Doyle)

Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Timothy Wayne Ray, 49, of Grand Junction, assault causing bodily injury or mental illness; Dana Mark Johns, 62, of Jefferson, operating while intoxicated- second offense, possession of marijuana- second offense, possession of methamphetamine- second offense and eluding; Michael Bradley Hart, 42, of Carroll, operating while intoxicated; Joseph Burchfield II, 50, of Jefferson, possession of methamphetamine- third or subsequent offense, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver not more than 50 kg, and keeping premises or vehicle for controlled substance violation; Daniel L. Rosenow, 37, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana and possession of methamphetamine; Roger Allen Burnie Jr, 37, of Jefferson, illegal possession of prescription drug- third offense and possession of marijuana- third offense; Eric Christopher Rosenow, 39, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana- third offense and dominion control of firearm/ offensive weapon as a felon; Christopher Brian Quirk, 41, of Jefferson, forgery (two counts), identity theft less than $1,500, and theft- third degree against older individual; and Bryce Randal Delaney, 45, of Jefferson, theft- first degree. Ray’s trial date was set for Dec. 12. Trial dates for all other defendants were set for Jan. 30, 2024.

Cases were initiated in district court during the week ending Nov. 10 as follows: Anthony Charles Kennedy, 41, of Ames, possession of methamphetamine- third or subsequent; Charley Ann Dozark, 37, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana; Andrew E. Bounds, 27, of Omaha, NE, possession of marijuana; and Christopher Craig Edwards, 43, of Carroll, criminal mischief- third degree.
